YOGA FOR STUDENTS

“CLOSE YOUR EYES AND OPEN YOUR MIND”

Hello beautiful people! I hope you are doing great. We all know about yoga and how greatly it benefits one’s body as well as the mind. Since the 80s, the ancient Indian discipline of yoga has taken the western world by storm. Furthermore, after this popularity of yoga, India became known for yoga worldwide. People all over the world have started to realise the benefits of yoga, but before we go deeper into that, I would like to help you understand the true meaning of yoga. And no, it’s not only done by old aunties and uncles who get bored on the weekends sitting cross-legged and contorting their bodies in some poses but there is so much more. With over 800 styles of yoga there’s a bigger understanding and purpose behind why it helps in easing and soothing the mind in an individual’s difficult time.

Yoga is basically a spiritual discipline which is based on an extremely subtle science that concentrates on bringing harmony between mind, body & soul. There are so many different kinds of yoga practices and most importantly, it is possible for anyone to start practicing yoga at any point of time in their lives. Whether you’re a couch potato or a professional athlete, size and fitness levels do not matter because there are modifications for every yoga pose and beginner classes in every style. The idea is to explore your limits, not strive for some diamond-like perfection. It is a great way to get in tune with your body and your inner self.

Now coming to the benefits of Yoga for us students, the major benefit that we can reap is “reduced stress” as students tend to get compressed in a ton of workload and tension from school work and from the anxieties of our life outside the four walls of our school. This may include the stress from our social media statuses as well, which in our century is given a high pedestal too!

Yoga can help cope with the stress because it promotes relaxation, which inculcates peace and positivity in our lives. But you don't have to wait to feel stressed out to do yoga, and you shouldn't! People who do a little bit of yoga each day, often find themselves better equipped to handle things when life gets a little crazy. Practicing yoga builds your ability to calm, focus, balance, and relax yourself.

All in all, Yoga is highly beneficial for us students and before I conclude, I would also like to add that it gives me personally, immense peace and mindfulness. I hope this helps you as much as it helped me.

SPIRITUAL SIDE OF YOGA

Hey, Hii, Hello, Hola everyone! I hope everyone finds this in good health. Everyone goes through a lot of things every day, some happy moments, some sad, some are busy with their hectic schedule or some enjoy with their friends and family, some are going through a good phase, and some are through the bad. Everything we go through or anything that is happening in the surrounding has a huge impact on our mindset. Our mind is working 24*7 thinking either about the past which is never going to change or anticipating the unpredictable future. This negatively impacts the mind and disturbs mental health.

Spiritual yoga which is nothing but the connection of spirit with ourselves helps to gain freedom from all those thoughts and brings us back to the present. Not only this but also it helps in getting ourselves connected to our real selves. Breathing through the tough poses teaches us to breathe even during the worse phase of life. The asanas that are related to physical flexibility not only provide flexibility to the body but also increases our mental flexibility and bring backs a positive attitude such as the "we can do it" attitude. Stretching in the yoga poses to your limit without comparing with others, can lead to an attitude to do your best and let go. This attitude also helps in overcoming stress.

Spirituality is the inner core and adds happiness to life. And on the spiritual side of yoga, yoga also focuses on mental Peace where we work through Emotional stress and psychological challenges. And without the spiritual side of yoga, yoga is just a stretch class or a gym session. Yoga never teaches us to get rid of negativity by gaining control of ourselves rather it teaches us to face all the situations no matter what just by being ourselves and with our experiences. So basically spiritual yoga helps us to live in the present, refreshes our mind, and brings back a positive attitude in our lives.

Meditation helps to keep ourselves calm. So lets us come off the busy schedule, out of those thoughts, and let's stabilize our mental health, let's meditate.

Let's bring back those pretty smiles to our faces!! 😊

SYNC -A Rollercoaster Ride

SYNC – A Roller coaster ride!

We often start our college life with uncertain feelings; the feeling of being anonymous in this phase of life. With all our dreamed-up and fancied expectations that come out of movies (or series), we enter into the actuality and, it eventually gives us a reality check. But like the two sides of a coin, this reality check too has peaks and valleys within it. Constant lectures, assignments, projects, and exams definitely make us go "oh, no!" Nevertheless, clubs like SYNC can change this into a delight with no ifs and or buts.

From fitness to newness, from exercise to good vibes, from mental peace to stress relief, we at SYNC have this all-embracing within. Speaking about the journey of SYNC, this previous year was full of activities, workshops, and events like never before. Since the beginning of the year, the club had planned a lot of stuff to be carried out this time. Workshops on Mandala art, offline yoga, bolly folk Garba, Zumba, self-care yoga, meditative art, stick yoga, offline Zumba, HIIT, Music Therapy and much more. SYNC had also organized several activities for the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college to give them a relaxation break from their hectic schedules. To make a "December to Remember" the club had planned a 30 Days Yoga Challenge where it created 30 videos (Instagram reels) pertaining to various methods of fitness. All the hard work and diligence paid off with the success of this 30 Days Challenge. Nearing the end of 2021, SYNC members began fastening their seat belts for those three days that mean the world to them. Yes, Elysium 2022! Right from planning to the execution, SYNC members and the Apex sweated blood to make the biggest and only fitness fest of Mumbai a superhit grand show this time. The fest was planned to be held on 15th, 16th, and 17th March 2022, completely offline in the long run of online events. Later, the team had a crazy fun after-party.

In the upcoming year, SYNC wishes to continue the same energy and enthusiasm alongside new activities and events. SYNC aims at fostering good health and mental peace for every other individual who plays a part in it because the best club deserves the best team!

We will, we will, SYNC it!

Happy reading, thank you!
