SYNC -A Rollercoaster Ride

SYNC – A Roller coaster ride!

We often start our college life with uncertain feelings; the feeling of being anonymous in this phase of life. With all our dreamed-up and fancied expectations that come out of movies (or series), we enter into the actuality and, it eventually gives us a reality check. But like the two sides of a coin, this reality check too has peaks and valleys within it. Constant lectures, assignments, projects, and exams definitely make us go "oh, no!" Nevertheless, clubs like SYNC can change this into a delight with no ifs and or buts.

From fitness to newness, from exercise to good vibes, from mental peace to stress relief, we at SYNC have this all-embracing within. Speaking about the journey of SYNC, this previous year was full of activities, workshops, and events like never before. Since the beginning of the year, the club had planned a lot of stuff to be carried out this time. Workshops on Mandala art, offline yoga, bolly folk Garba, Zumba, self-care yoga, meditative art, stick yoga, offline Zumba, HIIT, Music Therapy and much more. SYNC had also organized several activities for the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college to give them a relaxation break from their hectic schedules. To make a "December to Remember" the club had planned a 30 Days Yoga Challenge where it created 30 videos (Instagram reels) pertaining to various methods of fitness. All the hard work and diligence paid off with the success of this 30 Days Challenge. Nearing the end of 2021, SYNC members began fastening their seat belts for those three days that mean the world to them. Yes, Elysium 2022! Right from planning to the execution, SYNC members and the Apex sweated blood to make the biggest and only fitness fest of Mumbai a superhit grand show this time. The fest was planned to be held on 15th, 16th, and 17th March 2022, completely offline in the long run of online events. Later, the team had a crazy fun after-party.

In the upcoming year, SYNC wishes to continue the same energy and enthusiasm alongside new activities and events. SYNC aims at fostering good health and mental peace for every other individual who plays a part in it because the best club deserves the best team!

We will, we will, SYNC it!

Happy reading, thank you!

How we decided to lead SYNC Club: Apex relives their time as members!

The best part about our lockdown was to join the SYNC Club of HR College of Commerce and Economics!! We are extremely delighted to be a part of a community, a safe space where we interact with like-minded people with innovative ideas who come together to create something with a strong passion, to cultivate leaders through health, fitness and wellness.

Although, just like anyone else- we felt nervous and initially decided to make our mark by trying out something different to fit in. Today we happily call ourselves the presidents, vice presidents and the executive directors of this club.

The first initial phases of joining SYNC were rather exciting, we got to meet new people, understand a different perspective and most importantly, learnt to work in a team. However, there was of course a series of self doubt and acceptance early in that stage as we were new. Hence, we would be extremely active in our meetings, during events and had a point to put in almost everything. That's how we began getting involved in the club. Our ideas, thoughts and opinions were always considered and pondered upon, which made us feel like we belonged to this club unlike most others.

From there- a series of learning, trying out new things and being able to come to a conclusion with a plethora of ideas was something we learnt. Reflecting back to those memories that we made, as members, to the times we have spent with our SYNC Family, our message to anyone reading this is, take initiative. If you join something new, it is important that you try pushing for ideas, and make sure that they are implemented correctly. At SYNC, it is easy to share what we want to. It is an exciting and enriching journey to lead this group of people in May 2021.

To conclude, we would also like to add that making mistakes and taking the opinion of others within the work we do at SYNC helps us grow in leaps and bounds! As leaders, team work- learning from observation is something that everyone should be exposed to and that's how little by little, a little becomes a lot. This is the kind of journey that you as an individual must experience in your college life as it only helps you even in your personal life. Joining SYNC was the highlight of our college life, and hosting Mumbai's biggest and only college fitness festival, Elysium that will take place on 15th, 16th and 17th March, we are super stoked to organise this festival!

After the time we spent at home and throughout the events conducted virtually, it only adds up to our excitement and joy to welcome you to an offline three day fitness extravaganza. Don't worry, not just fitness enthusiasts, but all college students are invited to join us for the fest. Our team has put in so much effort, time and patience with the behind the scenes of Elysium.

Truly, SYNC has been able to help us identify our Elysium (which means happiness) and through the activities and events of this club, we help you find your inner happiness and that's the same reason why we would recommend anyone interested to join the club.

SYNC helped us grow, evolve and learn with time, and it happens to be the best highlight of our college life!

SYNC 2021 Wrap : Revisiting our events!

We have come a long way! In retrospect, it's still just the beginning for SYNC! 🤭?

We're delighted to end the year with a bang! 2021 is about to end and we thought, why not take you guys down the memory lane to revisit all the fun events, workshops and sessions that we organised throughout the year to make sure that the students of HR College were not only fit and healthy, but also enjoyed their time with the club activities.

We are indeed grateful to have brought about a change in the lives of the backbone of HR College, the teachers and non-teaching staff. Not to forget our very own brand ambassadors as our Principal Pooja ma'am calls us, this club had sessions for one and all!

During the year, the members of SYNC Club organised some memorable workshops amidst all the ups and downs that it faced. Let's get to them now:

SYNC was blessed to have Sadhguru's Isha Foundation conduct a specialised meditation and yoga session for its members. Following that line up, we had Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's Art of Living Foundation to discuss with our student audience- the importance of Life Skills.

A strong team needs great bonding and in order to fulfill it, SYNC organised intra club sessions solely for the members of SYNC to show their talents. Whether it was MMA by Navya, Zumba with Muskan, Khushi and Meghaana or Editing with Jatin, each unique talent was brought out to their fullest through this month!

Post these successful intra events, SYNC is able to relive offline college moments. We made sure to follow all the safety measures against the deadly COVID-19 that is still looming over us. Our first offline event was for our Non-Teaching staff in collaboration with Kaivalyadhama, a Yoga Workshop was organised in the college premises.

The moment we were waiting for in the past 2 years! An OFFLINE ZUMBA SESSION! IN COLLEGE! With STUDENTS and how can we forget our non-teaching staff! Can't imagine? Well, have a look yourself!

Despite the COVID restrictions, our staff members made sure to look after college well. This was just SYNC's way of doing a little something for them. Post this session, our SYNC members enjoyed a power packed Zumba session with Ms Richa Khanna.

And that's all for 2021! There are big surprises for 2022 and it won't be fun if we reveal them right away🤭

Follow us on Instagram and YouTube to stay updated!

We will see you all very soon with another interesting year, filled with workshops, events, fun and so much more to look after your health and wellness.

 Happy New Year!

Christmas: What is Joy of Giving?

It is rightly said that:

Everyone can experience the joy and blessing of generosity, because everyone has something to give.

Christmas is one such festival which not only celebrates Love, Reconciliation and Peace but it also brings with it the traditional practice of giving a gift during Christmastide which is symbolic of the presentation of gifts by the Three Wise Men to the infant Jesus.

It also provides the chance to help those who are less fortunate than us and need more support. The same thing was done by SYNC as it donated Rice, Sugar, Biscuits and Bottled water in the Donation Drive for Chiplun and Mahad by NSS unit of HR college.

It also reminds me of the incident that how every Christmas in my school I got to selflessly serve the needy by providing them with necessities and once I also got to interact with a group of children living in a slum as a part of a wellness program to teach them.  The experience was a mind -boggling one as the immense pleasure I received after mingling with these children was unforgettable and still remains afresh in my mind because the warmth which they had and the enthusiasm which they showed towards learning made me believe in the fact that

It's not always the bucks which are counted as giving, rather a small act of kindness is enough to make a person’s day, smooth their path or put a smile on their face.

And that's when you should remember that you have offered something of yourself that is greater than anything materialistic. We often forget the fact that a gift's value isn't determined by its size or price, the true value and joy of a gift is how it makes the recipient feel cared for.

On this note I would like to terminate in the words of Mother Teresa that, “It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.

“Well, can you think of a time when a gift you gave to someone else filled you with the joy of giving?

Share some of those memories in the comments down below!

Merry Christmas from the SYNC Family!

Coping with Exam Stress : A guide

Exam time is around the corner and stress is expected to hang high on the head of every student.

We all know that now the session of exams is coming and when the exams is on the way then student has a stress and fear of getting average marks. So we all now that exams always create a wave of anxiety. All students including me feel the pressure and stress of clearing the exam.

All students face pressure from those external factors rather than writing the exam in itself! External factors are how their parents or teachers feel when their child or students scoring low marks, also many students started getting categorized based on their marks as “good” or “average” or as” failures”.

And because of these labels are given to students, it increases the pressure on any student. Furthermore, expectations from parents and teachers also add on the already existing pressure. No one want low marks or negative label.

Because of these stress and anxiety also can’t or lose concentration on studies. Because of less concentration on studies and this leads to increases the difficulty in grasping concepts while learning, which adds to the anxiety, and this emotional cycle continues. Sometimes they get ill because of taking tension about exam and in this they don’t take care properly.

Dealing with Exam Stress: Being in stress is not a very good state of mind and one should try to get over it as soon as possible.

DON’T (ALWAYS) LISTEN TO OTHERS:

As the old saying goes: "comparison is the thief of joy". Don’t compare yourselves with other students because all students are not same. Stop listening to people, they are not helping you. Sometimes may you listen to others and you start following this but in end this will lead you giving more stress. May be sometimes you are doing right and after that you listen to other people like how they are studies and you follow but you feel like you aren't progressing as well as them. Plus, if they themselves are stressed this can rub off on to you and other people’s stress is not what you need right now.

ENCOURAGE YOURSELF TO TAKE BREAKS:

Studies show that taking a break from studying helps improve your productivity, concentration, energy, and creativity, and rejuvenates your brain so you get more out of your study session. Taking breaks from studying every ninety minutes or so can improve both focus and attention. If you force yourself to study all the day, day before the exam then may be this make you fear or dislike studying and examinations even more. Take break of 20 to 30 minutes after studying continuously for 2 to 3 hours.

EXERCISE DAILY:

It can feel like a waste of valuable study time and effort to spend any time or energy on exercise. But Exercise and studying go hand-in-hand. Exercise improves mood and sleep, and reduces stress and anxiety. 20 minutes of exercise before studying can improve concentration and help you focus your learning. Try to do at least some exercise each day, even if it is only taking a brisk walk. Exercise is also help you to refresh your mood and help you to focus on your studies.

PREPARATION IS KEY:

Preparing for an exam can be stressful at times when we have a lot to study but restricted period of time. But this idea may be help to you to prepare better, Parents and little brothers and sisters don't have to be annoying around exam time. Use them to your advantage. Explain an answer to a question to them. That will help you to get it clear in your head, and also to highlight any areas where you need more work.

ADD SOME “ME-TIME”:

Also in your time table add some me-time because this give you peace and happiness like leave your studies for least 30 minutes and do whatever makes you happy like playing with your little cousins, watching TV, playing any sport this will activate your brain and can reduce your stress levels too. Taking some “me” time and taking a break from studies help you to concentrate on your exam and you also free refresh after the spending some time with you. We hope that these tips help you to reduce your stress and anxiety. Make sure to look after your physical and mental well being.

SYNC club wishes you best of luck for upcoming exams!
